Plaid, Tweeds & Checks:
Prince of Wales or tartan checks in all their many forms are key for the new season. Americana-inspired plaid stood out at Calvin Klein. Versace's approach had a 90s-inspired Cher Horowitz "Clueless" feel. Subdued or technicolor - it's all on trend.
Forget any trashy preconceptions you had about animal print - zebra and leopard are back in a big way for winter 2018, as seen on the catwalks of Victoria Beckham, Calvin Klein, Givenchy, Balenciaga and Tom Ford. Keep the rest of your outfit pared-down. Python, zebra, cheetah, croc and more animal prints roamed free and wild across the catwalk shows this season.
Satin & Silk:
Sometimes it feels like the nineties never left. It’s no wonder why the 1990’s are having yet another moment in the world of fashion with the return of the slip dress. I like slip dresses for their easy silhouette, silken fabric and incredible finishes. Pair with a tweed coat or a casual shirt tied around the waist to make it look sophisticated in real life, without looking like you are wearing a nightgown.
There are countless ways to make glittering and shiny metallics look great on you, but you have to keep one thing in mind: do not go overboard. Start with metallic shoes, nail posh, shiny clutches, etc. A shiny metallic clothing piece will underline your individuality. You can go for a metallic top, cropped pants, midi skirt or mini skirt.
While the fanny pack has been showing up all over the place for well over the past year, the trend also dominated Fall 2018 runways like Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Gucci, and beyond, making it clear the belt bag isn't going anywhere just yet.
